Treatment Philosophy

The program will parallel the development of young Samoan boys into manhood. Through a series of level requirements that will immediately challenge misconceptions of who they are and the values they have formed in the past. It will expose them safely to consider all that they’ve taken for granted and identify quickly that which is most important in life. These requirements will range in activity designed to teach our core values such as: personal responsibility, family before the individual, respect of elders, community service, character/integrity, sacrifice, humility, gratitude, team work, self identity, family heritage/genealogy, culture/family traditions and positive recreational activity.

The student will be exposed to experiences of a life time, learn safely the value of consistently making good choices, AND as a bonus, uncover the reason why this island country of Samoa is widely considered the ‘Pearl of the Pacific.’

We believe that all youth are resources and powerful contributors to each family or community. Manuia Plantation’s mission is to help each youth that enters our doors, to realize their full potential.

Each time internal, long lasting change has occurred in our experience, it occurred in the environment of a POSITIVE and NURTURING RELATIONSHIP. We train our ‘coaches’ to build this type of relationship.

Program components of therapy and education are a great part of the overall objective of Manuia Plantation to teach our core values.

A graduation from Manuia Plantation is truly a ‘rite of passage’ as only can be done in Samoa, that will envelope our student with an overwhelming sense of accomplishment and springboard him into life equipped with the personal resolve to live a life that is productive, responsible and fulfilling.
